Do you suffer from this autoimmune thyroid disease? Me too I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroid disease towards the end of 2023, The path leading up to this was awful, this illness almost crippled me, but more so, I was intrigued.
I'd be in positions where I noticed my body almost shut down and I would climb into bed fully clothed at 6 pm. Now I was never a night owl but 6:00 pm was even early for me. Yet I was oblivious to why my energy levels were low, I was always a deep sleeper never waking and feeling well rested once I had risen, I couldn't count a bad sleep on both my hands for the entirety of the year, even when I was out camping in -2 degrees Celsius, I slept like a new-born after the teat. The thing is I would always wake up full of energy and early, it was like I was racing the sun. On further self-examination, I had a rough cough also my throat wasn't too sore but not as relaxed as it used to be, and there wasn't any mucus more like a dry cough and fatigue.
In a week or so I realized how often I felt anemic and the triggers came from what I ate, doughnuts were my sugary weakness, and I noticed they would instantly close my throat up as I took another one (pleasure over pain!). I would be sitting doing various breathing techniques to stop my eyes from watering and to stop my esophagus from closing up, it kept me alive but I wasn't able to stop my thyroid from reacting to what I ate, I sat in disbelief thinking I may have to go raw vegan or become a breatharian in such a dramatic response. I composed myself and started reading into what the issue could be after 4 hours of back-to-back YouTube videos 6 hours of reading independent and scientific research I realized I may have to get tests and bloodwork and see if my body is producing the correct hormones (T3 T4 T3 Reverse etc) at this point the leaky gut kicked in and reverted me to the idea of never eating again. Luckily one of the videos gave me insight into what I needed to focus on. and open the door to the nutritional factors I should focus on to contain this disease and I started to make adjustments.

The Recipe
Ingredients
1 - Banana (Ripe)
1 - Tea Spoon of 9 Minds Seamoss
2 - Tbsps Gluten-Free Oats (if not gluten-Free do not use)
1 - Tbsp Chia Seeds*
3 - 5 - Brazil Nuts
2 - Medjool Date, pitted
1 - Glass of Coconut Water (preferred brand Vita Coco)
1 - Tsp Wheatgrass Powder
Instructions
Soak the Brazil nuts oats and chia seeds in the coconut water for 20 - 30 minutes to make it easier for digestion, once done add all contents to the blender and create a magical elixir packed with selenium.
This will be a smooth and quite thick smoothie if you would like to add half a cup more coconut water if the texture isn't to your liking, then do so and enjoy and watch how it assists your thyroid in producing the hormones required to reduce the anemia.
